Trisha talks philosophy

Trisha, who till last year ruled the box-office in the South, pairing up with top heroes, now finds herself in a gloomy situation now. Facing stiff competition from Ileana, Anushka in Tollywood and Asin, Shreya in Tamil, Trisha is struggling to get good offers.

Already with a row of consecutive debacles, film makers are shying away from her. Another reason being her remuneration; She reportedly charges a lot more than her counter-parts.

With very few offers at hand, Trisha is getting all philosophical now. ‘Its heroes realm now. Heroines have very little influence” she says. She further adds “Filmmakers do not value heroines if their films fail. If a movie is a success, they pour compliments and hurl brickbats if it flops”.

Trisha says she is going to be very selective and do only performance oriented roles from now onwards. Heroines’ life on screen is very less these days and Trisha sure does know about it. If only she can realize it soon and start seeing the bright side of it.

'I did some bad films at the start of my career' - Veda

Veda is looking up and looking good as she continues on with her journey to the top of the heap.

Archana has travelled a long way from the top of the alphabet to being Veda. And she is loving it. "Old friends still call me Archana, but at work, within the fraternity, I am Veda.

I adopted the name because a director of one of my initial films pointed out that there was already somebody in the industry who shares the name I was born with, and by the time I figured out that I might actually like Archana better, people had started to recognise me as Veda, and now there is no going back," she says casually.

In Bangalore currently, shooting for a film with actors like Girish Karnad and Atul Kulkarni, Veda is upbeat, "I did some bad films at the start of my career but now things are falling into place.

I am really excited about this Kannada project, and about my upcoming Telugu film, Bank. I have also just wrapped up a Telugu song for a big banner and a big movie that I can't really talk about till the producers announce it in the press."

Clearly, she has made up for a less than satisfactory start. Especially with hits like Saamanyudu with Jagapathi Babu and Sri Ramadasu with Nagarjuna in her track record.

The daughter of a television personality and dancer, Veda says, "Mum's been the pillar all along. She's been by me, and we are jamming together too. We did a dance recital in Kalahasti last week and have a big ballet lined up for mid-April in Hyderabad."
With all that's going on, Veda is clear about one thing, "It's important to be really successful in Tollywood. My roots are here, and Hyderabad is my city."

'Aata' team is on a high

Among the major expectations that Tollywood has is on Aata. This may perhaps end up as the movie of the season as and when it releases.

With MS Raju making a concerted effort to make the movie a big one, the entire team is working doubly hard to make it a success.

The film’s hero Siddharth has almost vanished from the public radar as he is nowhere to be seen. Report say that he is slogging it out with a rare zeal for the movie.

Ileana, the film’s heroine, is also very focussed. She feels that Aata has all the ingredients to be a cult hit.

Director V N Aditya is also on a high. Having been blessed with a boy recently, the director is more thrilled than ever. Aata will be a very different kind of movie, he says.

Siddharth, after Bommarillu’s phenomenal success, was not to be seen anywhere.

But Aata will hopefully prove to be worth all the effort.
