‘Someone is playing dirty’

Filmmaker Boney Kapoor is very upset with Hyderbad-based producer Nitin Kapoor’s (Alright Entertainment) claim of holding the official rights of the Hindi remake of the Telugu hit ‘Bommarillu’. Nitin had claimed this after Boney recently announced that he would be making the film’s Hindi version with director Anees Bazmi.

An irate Boney explains, “I bought the rights of the film from producer Dil Raju in 2006. I have an acknowledgement receipt of my cheque, a letter of understanding proving that.”

He proves his point adding further, “Now, so many months after I bought the rights, Nitin is claiming to have them. I know someone is playing dirty. The film’s producer Dil Raju is being pressurised and manipulated. This is a blackmail tactic.”

Boney, whose father the late Surendra Kapoor was a famed producer adds further, “We have never done any wrong. I have bought the rights of 20 films in the past instead of stating to be ‘inspired’ by them as others do.”

Incidentally, while Boney’s last hit was ‘No Entry’, Nitin had last remade the Telugu hit ‘Naa Mogodu Nake Sontham’ as ‘Mera Pati Sirf Mera Hai’ almost two decades ago.
